First Shelby GT500 Delivered to Barrett Jackson Auction Winner
Posted June 27, 2006 01:01 PM by Tim Beggs.
Well the time has come for the goods to be delivered. If you recall the past auction at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale, the first Shelby GT500 #001 sold for $600,000. The orange car with tungsten racing stripes rolled off of the assembly line at the AutoAlliance International plant in Flat Rock, MI, on June 23rd, 2006. "On behalf of the management and workers here at AutoAlliance, I'm proud to hand over the keys to this Shelby GT500," said Gary Roe, President, AutoAlliance. "The Shelby GT500 is an instant classic and the AutoAlliance team couldn't be happier to be a part of the Ford-Shelby history." Carroll Shelby himself was waiting for the car to finish in order to personally hand over the keys to the winning bidder, Ron Pratte. Standing with past traditions, Shelby autographed the dashboard of GT500 #001, furthering its uniqueness and authenticity. Now, when does Mr. Pratte start his tour across the United States? I'm sure we'll be seeing more of him in the near future.
