2007 Ford Shelby GT500

What can be done to make the most powerful production Ford Mustang better? Lower the price? Give one away? Keep dreaming… How about add more power? That will have to do. Ford’s “poster child” pony car is now officially rated at 500 hp, up from the previous 475 hp estimates. The 32-valve 5.4 liter supercharged V8 is a purebred result in the continued modular engine development by Ford. A roots blower provides the 9 pounds/square inch of pressure making the wonderful power figures possible.

“With 500 hp and the Shelby name, this car is an instant legend," said Hau Thai-Tang, director, Advanced Product Creation & SVT programs. "This is the most powerful, most capable Mustang ever." No question of the power remains anymore as the rating was obtained by using the standards of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) with testing witnessed by an impartial third party.
