To further tell the tale of the man behind Ford's Special Vehicle Team (SVT), Frank Moriarty has compiled the facts and interviews in his book "IRON FIST, LEAD FOOT: John Coletti and Ford's 'Terminator'". For a long time, a factory supercharged Ford Mustang was something desired by muscle car fans of the past as well as today's technological present. It took the vision and direction of one man to make the dream happen: O. John Coletti.

"Like every other Mustang fan, as soon as I heard about this supercharged car I couldn't wait for it to be built."
--William Clay Ford, Jr. Executive Chairman, Ford Motor Company
Coletti's vision was that high performance creates high excitement and in turn sales that drive the company ahead of the competition. While spearheading Ford's Special Vehicle Team (SVT) at the time, Coletti single-handedly brought a downhearted pony car back into the fast lane with a fire-breathing monster best known as the "Terminator". The 2003 SVT Mustang Cobra took horsepower and handling to a new levels in performance and distribution, as the power wasn't in limited production numbers. The legend behind the Terminator has been kept quiet for some time, but over time, the grandiose detail is making its way to the public. Be sure to visit Frank's site to pick up a copy of the book. |
