As we continue down the path of Ford's "Way Forward" today, a variety of news was spoon-fed to us. One particular notable was the fact that the Ford Mustang Bullitt is slated to return to production sometime in 2008. The announcement comes somewhat as a surprise, as the prior run was to be a limited production set and many Mustang fans were expecting to hear news of a Boss, redone on the S197 (2005+) platform. What will Ford have under the hood of this particular caliber of Bullitt? A naturally aspirated 5.4 liter? A blown 4.6 DOHC? Wish we could say for certain, but we'll have to see what Bold Move Ford makes next to find out. If we hear anything, we'll keep you posted. |

Southern California based Street Scene Equipment, best known for their Body Styling, Speed Grilles and Sport Mirrors, has released yet another fantastic product in their series of complete Ford Mustang Grille Packages. It is a Center Mount Light Grille Shell for the 2005-2007 Ford Mustang that gives the car that 1960s Shelby appearance. The Shell mounts directly into the OEM front end without any cutting or other modifications. All OE mounts and locations are used, and the piece is very straightforward to install. The piece is made of injection molded plastic and sells for about $165 (part # 950-73596 for the V6 / part # 950-73595 for the GT) on Street Scene's website. V6 Mustang owners who want to go this route will need to utilize an additional conversion wire harness kit (part # 950-73591) that sells for around $75 and will also have to come up with the Mustang GT driving lights to complete the setup. Street Scene will soon offer these lights as well, in November 2006. |

ROUSH Performance keeps raising the bar in the entire aftermarket for the Ford Mustang. The latest and greatest from Jack's garage is the new 427R model that brings; you guessed it, 427 horsepower from the stable straight to the street & track. Based primarily upon the ROUSH Stage 3 Mustang, the 427R has fewer modifications, but maintains plenty of pizzazz. An intercooled ROUSHcharger system adds 115 hp and 65 lb-ft of torque to the 3-valve 4.6-liter Ford powerplant. Tuning and taming this wild rendition is ROUSH's own engineered ECM calibration that is flexible to accommodate multiple exhaust combinations. |

Strange Development continues to push ahead with cutting edge suspension components for the 2005-2006 Ford Mustang. Recently, they have developed bushings that allow the Mustang to handle corners better and maintain an even stronger grip on the track. The S197 (recent body style code name) Mustang comes equipped from the factory with a simple rubber bushing in the front and a slightly larger hydraulic rubber bushing in the rear. Ford engineers sought to create a smoother ride for the new Mustang, but also sacrificed the feeling of the road for the driver. Strange Development's engineering team composed an idea for a nylon bushing that would eliminate unwanted bushing deflection. MDS filled nylon 6/6 was the material of choice since it can take more load than delrin and will provide a maintenance free operation. MDS (Molybdenum Disulfide) is similar to graphite and is self-lubricating. Each MDS filled bushing rides on a 316 stainless steel inner race. The bushings from Strange are truly innovative since they provide the rigidity superior to urethane and delrin and doesn't require ongoing maintenance. Visit the Strange Development site if you are interested in more. |

Some say the "good" dirt is in the details. Classic Design Concepts (CDC) certainly believes so. They have released a great custom add-on to the inner deck lid that takes fashionable storage to another level. The "Detail Corral" frees up trunk space in your Ford Mustang by attaching to the underside of the deck lid and provides sleek storage for first aid, cleaning supplies, a CDC mini duster, and other various unmentionables. If you want it out of sight, round up the smaller contents of your trunk and throw them into the Detail Corral. There is no drilling required, so don't worry about making holes in the car and you can count on a very straight-forward installation with detailed instructions. |

Explicit Auto helps Ford Mustang owners turn back time to capture a snippet of style from a legendary past. Inspired by the retrograde styling cues found on the 2001 Bullitt Mustang, the Retro Rings offer a great addition to an otherwise ordinary gauge cluster. Applications range from the base V6 or GT to the Mach 1 up to the Cobra. If you have a late model Mustang, odds are Explicit Auto has the materials and expertise you need to get this application completed. The above "before and after" shot is the tip of the iceberg. Check out more of the photos in the remainder of this entry. |
