Strange Development continues to push ahead with cutting edge suspension components for the 2005-2006 Ford Mustang. Recently, they have developed bushings that allow the Mustang to handle corners better and maintain an even stronger grip on the track. The S197 (recent body style code name) Mustang comes equipped from the factory with a simple rubber bushing in the front and a slightly larger hydraulic rubber bushing in the rear. Ford engineers sought to create a smoother ride for the new Mustang, but also sacrificed the feeling of the road for the driver. Strange Development's engineering team composed an idea for a nylon bushing that would eliminate unwanted bushing deflection. MDS filled nylon 6/6 was the material of choice since it can take more load than delrin and will provide a maintenance free operation. MDS (Molybdenum Disulfide) is similar to graphite and is self-lubricating. Each MDS filled bushing rides on a 316 stainless steel inner race. The bushings from Strange are truly innovative since they provide the rigidity superior to urethane and delrin and doesn't require ongoing maintenance. Some say the "good" dirt is in the details. Classic Design Concepts (CDC) certainly believes so. They have released a great custom add-on to the inner deck lid that takes fashionable storage to another level. The "Detail Corral" frees up trunk space in your Ford Mustang by attaching to the underside of the deck lid and provides sleek storage for first aid, cleaning supplies, a CDC mini duster, and other various unmentionables. If you want it out of sight, round up the smaller contents of your trunk and throw them into the Detail Corral. There is no drilling required, so don't worry about making holes in the car and you can count on a very straight-forward installation with detailed instructions. |

Explicit Auto helps Ford Mustang owners turn back time to capture a snippet of style from a legendary past. Inspired by the retrograde styling cues found on the 2001 Bullitt Mustang, the Retro Rings offer a great addition to an otherwise ordinary gauge cluster. Applications range from the base V6 or GT to the Mach 1 up to the Cobra. If you have a late model Mustang, odds are Explicit Auto has the materials and expertise you need to get this application completed. The above "before and after" shot is the tip of the iceberg. Check out more of the photos in the remainder of this entry. |

Car and Driver recently tested a Ford Shelby GT500 convertible on the open road and gave a somewhat disheartened opinion of the poster child Ford Mustang. Much of the public hype and media glitz about the vehicle's launch and production might have foreshadowed thoughts of a "silver bullet" Ford Mustang that could eliminate the competition, while maintaining composure and style. Tests on acceleration, noise levels, and overall handling were but a few items of scrutiny the GT500 was put through. The immediate impression is that they did not enjoy the car 100% and seemed to think it is overrated by the attention is has received. Do they feel it is completely disappointing? No. Rather, the test group sought to square up elements of the car's reality to the expectations everyone talks about. Check out their review and keep reading (below) for the crucial stats on the Shelby GT500 they tested. |

On the 40th Anniversary of the Shelby GT350H Ford Mustang, the Ford Motor Company, the Hertz Corporation, and Shelby Automobiles jointly produced 500 of the reborn GT-H Mustangs with the latest Mustang body style. While 500 were produced, only 499 are going to be up for the rental program. Why? The one remainder was auctioned off by Barrett-Jackson auctioneer "Spanky", Carroll Shelby, and Edsel Ford at the annual "Gathering of Eagles" fundraiser at the EAA AirVenture 2006. The winning bid: $250,000. |
