Ford Racing Boss 302 Engine |

|

Arguably one of the greatest racing engines to come out of Ford was the Boss 302 motor. Used in the Trans Am series, the Boss 302 won race after race utilizing the race bred 302 engines. Well, now the Boss is back. Ford Racing Performance Parts has brought the trusty 302 back to life, and it's better than ever.
Using NASCAR engineers and technology, Ford Racing has included the most important features in this new Boss 302 motor. Four bolt mains, screw in freeze plugs, and a Diesel grade heat treated cast iron block provides a great starting point for any engine build. With a weight of 165 lbs, this engine provides more strength than the R302 block, but with a weight savings of almost 20 lbs on the front end of the car. This block can be bored out as far as 363 cubic inches, giving room for growth and the possibility for thousands of engine combinations. The block features a Siamese bore, and has engineered cross drilling to provide better cooling.

Starting in 2007, this block will be the foundation for all of Ford Racings engines. There will be multiple power options ranging from 340 to 500 hp. These will be a great center piece for any restoration or race car project. TLC's hit show Overhaulin has featured this new engine already. It was placed in a classic blue Ford Mustang. And as it wouldn't be proper to reintroduce the engine that started it all without a car to put it in, sources with Ford says the Boss Mustang will return in 2009 to compete with the Challenger and Camaro. Stay tuned to RPM for more info as SEMA 2006 progresses with the possibility of a Boss being unveiled.
