Ford Racing & Roush Formulate GT500 Supercharger |
|
Two of the most prominent blue-blooded
nameplates in the aftermarket arena have teamed up to add more power to the
Ford Shelby GT500. This achievement is
made possible by, you guessed it, upping the boost ante. After the blower is installed, one can expect
an increase to 605 horsepower. Having
the power is part of the puzzlekeeping it is the other. This supercharger is backed by a
12month/12,000 mile warranty.
This power comes with a
price tag of $5600 from Ford Racing Technologies and Roush Performance. The Ford Racing GT500 Supercharger also comes
packaged with a calibration-ready cold air induction kit (CAI) and a Ford
Racing ProCal calibration tool. The CAI
assists in reducing pressure drop when air passes over the OEM air filter
housing and air filter element. A
6-inch, high flowing conical filters finishes off the CAI to bring in the
maximum amount of air possible.
Ford
developed a magnificent engine with the creation of the 5.4-liter V-8 engine.
They are able to pull 500 horsepower which is amazing for a street car and it's
no wonder it has quickly become one of the most sought-after Mustangs,"
said Jack Roush. "But we thought we could get a little more out of that
engine. In tandem, we were able to pull another 105 horsepower without
compromising the warranty and I have no doubt that this new Ford Racing
Supercharger will be in very high demand by owners of the Shelby
GT500.
A new TVS roots-style
technology brings along a considerable amount of airflow and reduced turbulent
air streams into the GT500s cylinder headsa first ever for any application in
the OE and the aftermarket realm.
As the aftermarket continues
to develop for these modern day legends, well be sure to keep you posted. |
